But when Sherman takes the WABAC out for a joyride to impress his friend Penny, they accidentally rip a hole in the universe, wreaking havoc on the most important events in world history. Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield-on the sea-as Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war. “300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemisia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

Our new projectors have arrived! They fill the entire lobby…
Today is the day installation begins!!
Our new Christie projectors are promised for Nov. 4…and hopefully installation will now be set for Nov. 5! They were delayed…
Believe me, our patience will be rewarded!
Platter coming apart…downstairs
Bob is installing a new surround speaker!
We have received all of our new surround speakers and over the weekend, they were installed!
Scalers, UPS units, amplifiers all have arrived…and this week we expect the bulk of the new equipment to arrive! Projectors etc. have been promised by Oct. 31 and we expect to start the installation process on Nov. 1!
Exciting times here! Stop in if you would like to see how it’s going!! If we are working in there, we’ll be glad to show you our progress!
While we are waiting for our digital equipment to arrive, we’ve been hard at work improving things around here!
Our NEW BOILER is being installed right now, and the theater will be WARM this winter!! That is exciting news for all of us!!
Also, the marquee lights up for the first time in a while…it required some extensive electrical work because of weather related damage. Also, the front doors have been restored…they are the original front doors made as good as new! Even the chrome has been redone on our original door handle fixtures!
We have also ordered a 3D system for the downstairs theater! With this, we also replace the screen. The screen is coming last, sometime in early November.
Our projection equipment should be coming shortly…within the next week hopefully! Then we jump in with installation!
I’ll post pictures of the installation…thanks for your patience!
We can keep you updated from here on what’s being done at the State Theater!
The doors…well, we are really looking closed once the doors come off! They are in need of repair…the weather comes in and the doors are historic so we will repair them rather than replace them. They will be removed in the next few days, replaced by plywood for now. We will see our doors in October, looking brand new! What an improvement that will be!
Final quotes are being made for the equipment, and once settled, the check goes out and the order goes in. Our local technician was at the Telluride Film Festival and is just giving us his full attention! The equipment should start arriving in September, while we spruce up the outside of the theater.
Also a new boiler will be added…this has been planned since the winter of last year, when it was apparent that our old one wasn’t adequate any more. So…this year we’ll have a warm theater all winter!! Our little theater is going to have a huge upgrade!!
GO DIGITAL GO DARK has announced that we have made our goal fundraising for digital equipment!!
The last day we will run FILM is Thursday! So, to mark our exit to digital, there will be free popcorn for all on Thursday!
So many thank-you’s are owed….to so many here in our wonderful community! I am so touched…overwhelmed and complimented by the outpouring of support from all! We are all so fortunate to live in this amazing place…and be part of the community we have!
We will be closing from Sept. 6 until sometime in October. This is to install our digital film setup…stay tuned for details! Our fundraising goals are close to being realized…this is such an exciting time for our little theater! We … Continue reading
